2024 HBCU College Scholarship

In the spirit of recognizing extraordinary life work while giving back, KDW Cares Inc is proud to announce its annual HBCU College Education scholarship, in honor of the late Antwion Alexander Ball.

The scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $5,000 to a high school senior entering college. Scholarship awards will be made directly to the post-secondary institution that the student has been accepted to and enrolled.

KDW Cares Black History Day

KDW Cares Black History Day honors the achievements of Thomas Patton Miller, known as Tom Miller, a prominent Baltimore artist celebrated for his “Afro-Deco” painted furniture. Born in the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood, he attended Carver Vocational Technical High School. In 1963, Miller was awarded a scholarship to the Maryland Institute College of Art.

Financial Literacy Workshop for Teens

KDW Cares is proud to announce our new 2022 – 2023 dates for our Financial Literacy Workshop For Teens series and our new partnership with The Harbor Bank of Maryland (Main Branch), a Community Development Corporation.

This program is open to 8th – 11th grade students, and the sessions will be held on the following Saturday dates from 11 AM – 2 PM each day. (Lunch will be served)

  • September 17, 2022
  • December 17, 2022
  • March 25, 2023
  • June 24, 2023

Virtual sessions will also occur in between in-person sessions (Virtual dates = TBD). Attendees must attend all four sessions and participate in virtual conferences.
